Meet the Cast of Not All Men

One of the greatest joys of making Not All Men was working with such an incredible and dedicated cast. From the very beginning, this project required a deep level of trust, collaboration, and emotional honesty. The story moves between very different worlds; Lexi’s home life and the memories tied to it, and the brothel environment where much of the film’s tension unfolds. Because of that, building authentic relationships between the characters was essential.

Before stepping onto set, we spent quite a bit of time discussing character histories, relationships, and the emotional dynamics that shape the story. Those conversations were invaluable. When the cameras rolled on our very first day shooting the brothel scenes it was exhilarating to watch everything come together. The performances immediately felt grounded and real. Each actor brought their own perspective, nuance, and instinct to their role, making these characters feel lived-in and complex from the very beginning.

Despite the film exploring sensitive subject matter, the atmosphere on set was incredibly supportive and collaborative. I had full trust in this cast, and they rewarded that trust by bringing depth and humanity to every scene. It’s one thing to write characters on a page, but it’s another to watch talented performers transform those characters into something authentic and emotionally resonant.

This production also involved some unique logistical challenges. The film moves between timelines and emotional spaces while working with performers of different ages and levels of experience. One particularly memorable day involved our stunt work, coordinated by Emmy-winning stunt coordinator Martin Cochingco (The Last of Us, Shōgun). Balancing intense scenes while maintaining a safe and supportive environment (especially while working with a minor on set) required the highest level of professionalism from everyone involved. A huge shoutout also goes to Jonny Nickerson (The Last of Us, The Land of Nod), who portrays David, Lexi’s ex-boyfriend. In addition to delivering a powerful performance, Jonny also brought valuable stunt experience to the production, helping elevate the physicality and realism of those moments.

Looking back on the shoot, what stands out most is the professionalism, generosity, and creativity of the entire cast. They approached the material with sensitivity, curiosity, and courage, helping shape the emotional core of the film in ways that exceeded my expectations. I’m incredibly grateful for the work they brought to Not All Men and proud to introduce the performers who made this story possible.
