COMING SOON: Two New Music Videos for Juno-Nominated Artist Shawnee Kish
This past weekend, we wrapped production on Dear God and Put Your Weapons Down, two powerful new music videos for Juno-nominated singer/songwriter Shawnee Kish and I couldn’t be more excited for what we captured.
Filmed entirely in and around Drumheller, Alberta, these videos explore deep emotional themes through haunting landscapes and raw performances. For Dear God, we shot at an abandoned church in the ghost town of Dorothy, Alberta; a stunning, cinematic location that served as the perfect backdrop for Shawnee’s deeply personal message. The few townspeople we encountered were incredibly kind and supportive, making the experience even more meaningful.
For Put Your Weapons Down, we filmed at the iconic Drumheller Hoodoos. These ancient rock formations offered more than just a striking visual - they became a symbolic extension of Shawnee’s story: a metaphor for resilience, isolation, and the harshness of the emotional terrain her lyrics explore. We leaned into nature as a character itself, with wind, dust, and landscape shaping the narrative.
Both videos were a long time in the making. Shawnee and I spent months developing the concepts, building stories that reflect the themes of each song. Seeing them come to life - with such a talented and passionate team - was incredibly fulfilling.
I had the honor of writing, directing, and producing both videos, and I can’t wait to share them with the world. We’re aiming for a July 2025 release, so stay tuned.
